If you’re going to work from home in 2021, you’ll need a great printer to accompany your Chromebook. So here are some great 2021 Chromebook printers to consider.

HP OfficeJet Mobile 200  

This is a printer that was designed with the ultra-light Chromebook in mind. It’s a printer that you can lug along with you on a trip if you like. The HP OfficeJet Mobile 200 is worthy of its name. It’s doesn’t just work well with Chromebooks obviously, but it fits their aesthetic of beautiful, nifty little devices that get the job done.

Weighing in at about 6.8 lbs, it’ll fit in your backpack and give you all that you need to deliver that report or presentation. There is no default support for Google cloud services however. You can connect it to your Wi-Fi however, and it’ll work just fine. So, there’s a little setup required, but not enough to be a dealbreaker.

There is also much to say about the performance. You may think it will be a slouch compared to the bulkier offerings on this list, but you’d be wrong. The OfficeJet Mobile 200 can deliver a resolution of 4800×1200 dpi. That is incredible for high resolution photos. If you’re an amateur photographer, this should be at the top of the 2021 Chromebook printers list for you.  It also has a maximum speed of 20 ppm. So, you don’t need to worry about seeing your work blown up on the wall for long.

The Wi-Fi and USB 2.0 connections are built-in to this printer like most standard printers today. It also has a monochrome display and also an ADF. The only thing that it lacks very obviously is an included USB cable. You can probably just get the one lying around in your home or office somewhere, but it merits mentioning.

If you’re going for portability, there is probably no better choice than the Officejet Mobile.

Canon PIXMA iX6820

Though not as portable or stylish as the OfficeJet from HP on this list, there is much to say about this design. The Canon PIXMA is an incredible printer that is compatible with Chromebooks around the world. There is a entire list of features that you can use whether you’re working from home or printing photographs.

The printer obviously supports Pixma, along with Google cloud services and Wi-Fi Direct, as well as Airprint. So whichever device you’re going to hook up with it, you won’t need to worry about setting it up just right.

The resolution for the Canon PIXMA is insane. It can print at a beautiful 9600×2400 dpi. You can expect the fine details of your photographs or your digital art to shine when you print them out. The speed is not at the bleeding edge, but it’s nothing to sneeze at either. 14.5 pages per minute will get you plenty of images and documents. You can also take advantage of the automatic document feeder (ADF) here.  

There are also some great features here including built-in USB and Ethernet connections. The Canon PIXMA has the ability to print 13×19” sized images and documents. It’s also relatively light at 17.9 lbs. You can use a maximum of 5 ink cartridges with the Pixma as well. So, it’s definitely a workhorse of a beast.

There’s no duplexer though. If you want one, then there are other options on this list that can satisfy your needs. It only features one paper tray which doesn’t hold a lot of papers either.

However, looking at the big picture, this is one of the best Chromebook printers.  

Epson EcoTank ET-2720 

The Epson EcoTank is really worthy of the name. It’s built like a tank, but then offers up great features to justify the size. The printer is also very cost effective since it can print stacks of paper at once at a great price. The best part from Chromebook users here is that it features support for Google Cloud print. Hence, you can just pair it with your Chromebook or your Android phone and print away. You can also pair it with any iPhone or Macbook or PC.

The pictures and prints that you can get out of the EcoTank are worth the size. The insanely high 5760×1440 dpi resolution is perfect for both amateur and professional photographers. There is also a 4-ink cartridge setup that ensures that you can print all day and then some. Also, the decent 10.4 pages per minute-printing speed is great for photographers and digital artists. Plus, it’s an ink saver too. So, you get the beautiful photos and can continue printing as long as possible

There is also a USB Type B connection and a Wi-Fi connection interface so you can connect your phone or your laptop without a USB. Other features include scanning and copying as well. Thus, it’s a great printer for a home office, or even for your actual office.

There is no Duplex printing however. If you want something a little more versatile, you’ll probably find more expensive options out there. However, if you want something simple that prints until the day is done, this is one of the best chromebook printers.  

Samsung SL-M2020W/XAA Wireless

Like almost everything else from Samsung, its printers are also a masterclass in design and productivity. It’s chock full of features and prints at a speed of 21 pages per minute. So, you won’t need to speed up if you have to print out a report for your boss. Neither will you need to fret if you have an assignment in the morning.

The laser printer is compatible with every OS you can possibly think of, so it’ll work with your Chromebook without issues. You can even connect your phone to it without any hassle. It has Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity enabled and an LED display screen. That way, you’ll be able to see everything that’s going on inside the printer. That’s something printers have sorely needed since the beginning.

However, the deal breaker here is that it’s a monochrome printer. Users who want to print in colored documents will be left without an option. However, for those that just want to print out their CVs or want a printer for notes and everyday use, this is great. Any amateur photographers that want to develop and print their photos however, will not appreciate the SL-M2020W/XAA printer.  

Other cons include no double-sided printing or flexible printing. It’s a bare bones printer that will do the bare minimum for you with ease. In that regard, it’s one of the best 2021 Chromebook printers. For most people, that’s all they need. However, for those that want a little extra, this is not the printer for you.

HP ENVY 5055 Wireless

The HP ENVY 5055 wireless printer is a jack of all trades. It’s a multi-functional inkjet printer which prints, copies, scans, and even faxes. Hence, it’s the perfect printer for your home office. It’ll do just fine for those working from home in 2021. While it’s not as fast as the fastest laserjet printers, it can print out some breathtaking picture. Its high 1200×1200 dpi resolution makes sure of that.

It also prints in a variety of sizes including 3×5-inch paper, 8.5×14-inch legal paper, and 8.5×11-inches borderless paper. Users can go for both the USB connection or the inbuilt Wi-Fi connection. For those with only a USB type C port can go for the latter. Your Chromebook will have no problem hooking up with it on the home Wi-Fi router. Neither will your tablet or smartphone, or other mobile devices.

There is also a 2.2-inch LCD touchscreen on the printer that will show you the current status. This is a great feature to have on one of the best chromebook printers in the world right now. If that isn’t enough, you get a 1-year warranty on purchase. You can couple that with HP instant ink and smart app subscription.

The cons here are worth mentioning though. It’s not exactly easy to set up, and the printer isn’t ideal for very large print volumes. The print is also expensive to operate if you don’t subscribe to instant ink.

Either of these printers will do a great job for you as a home office accessory as well as an add-on for amateur photography.
